LAZ E301A1 — 18-Metre Ukrainian Articulated Trolleybus

The LAZ E301A1 is the longest trolleybus ever built in the former Soviet space, and Kyiv was the reason it existed. This mod covers the articulated ElectroLAZ-20 in full: a low-floor 18-metre body, four passenger doors, working roof-mounted current collectors and an electronic destination display. Thirty-nine liveries ship with it, including the Ukrainian city fleets that actually ran the type.

About the Real LAZ E301

The LAZ E301, marketed as ElectroLAZ-20, was the Lviv Bus Factory's articulated trolleybus and the longest of its kind built in the former USSR. It was the 18-metre stablemate of the rigid E183, and the first unit reached Kyiv on 12 October 2006. Production ran from 2006 to 2013, with 217 built in total, going to Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kremenchuk. Kyiv took the overwhelming majority, using the type to raise capacity on its busiest trolleybus corridors at a time when the city was rebuilding its electric transport fleet.
