About the Real Caio Mondego LA

The Caio Mondego is an urban bus body launched by Caio Induscar of Botucatu, São Paulo, in 2005 — initially for a large export order to Chile before reaching the domestic market. The Mondego LA is its low-floor articulated and bi-articulated variant; on the heavy Volvo B9SALF chassis it stretched to bi-articulated length for São Paulo's high-capacity SPTrans corridors in the second half of the 2000s, with doors on both sides for boarding at raised central platforms. Caio, one of Brazil's oldest coachbuilders, traces its roots to 1946.
