About the Real CAIO Bela Vista II

The CAIO Bela Vista II is the second generation of CAIO's Bela Vista urban-bus family, originally launched at the 1972 São Paulo Auto Show. The II generation was built by Caio Norte, CAIO's northeastern Brazilian division, and pairs the Bela Vista shell with the Mercedes-Benz LPO-1113 chassis — a 130-hp OM-352 diesel platform that anchored Brazilian urban transit through the 1980s. CAIO itself was founded in São Paulo in 1945 and grew to become Brazil's largest bus bodybuilder by the 1960s, expanding regional production through subsidiaries like Caio Norte to serve growing urban fleets across the country.
