The MAN Lion's City is MAN Truck & Bus AG's urban bus platform, in production since 1996 across MAN's plants in Salzgitter, Plauen and Starachowice. The Lion's City family covers a wide range of body lengths and configurations under MAN's internal A-code nomenclature — A21 for the standard 12m, A23 for the 18m articulated, A26 for the longer 12m variant and A47 for the short 10.5m midibus that this mod represents. The M (Midi) variant addresses the operator need for a bus that retains the standard Lion's City interior width and ergonomics but fits routes where the longer A21 cannot turn — typical for European historic-district services and lower-density suburban feeders.
