Beyond São Paulo: Brazil's Regional and Highway Maps in Proton Bus Simulator
If you have only driven São Paulo and Curitiba in Proton Bus Simulator, you have seen half of Brazil. Those big-city maps are the stars of our guide to the real cities you can drive in Proton Bus Simulator — but there is a whole other side to the Brazilian map scene, and it happens out on the open road.
This is the estrada side: the Northeast highways of Ceará, the hilly Capixaba coast, and sprawling interregional webs that link dozens of towns. On these maps the bus you reach for is not a city bus at all — it is a long-distance coach.
Brazil's other half: the open road
City buses dominate the São Paulo maps, but a huge part of real Brazilian bus life is the rodoviário — the intercity coach. For most Brazilians, travelling between cities still means a long-distance bus, and a coach pulling into a small-town terminal is a proper event.
These regional maps are built for exactly that job. If you are unsure why a coach is a completely different machine from a city bus, we broke it down in coach vs city bus — and it is the single most important thing to understand before you load one of these maps.
Ceará: highways and dirt roads to the sertão
Ceará Extremo II is a long-distance coach map set in the Northeast state of Ceará. It runs from the coast near Fortaleza inland toward the dry interior known as the sertão, following the kind of federal highways that thread the region together.
What makes it special is the surface under your wheels. The map mixes smooth asphalt with broken pavement and long unpaved dirt sections — the same rough tracks that reach the smaller towns off the main road. Drive a heavy coach onto that dirt and you feel it instantly: you ease off the throttle, you plan your steering, and the whole bus works harder. It is the opposite of a tidy city corridor.
The Capixaba coast: hills, beaches and favelas
Capixabão takes you somewhere completely different: the coast of Espírito Santo, the small southeastern state whose people are called capixabas. This is the metropolitan world of Vitória and Vila Velha — a hilly, seaside city transit environment that is one of the most demanding in Brazil.
The map captures what makes it hard and beautiful at once: steep neighbourhood streets winding up the morros (hills), scenic beachfront avenues, tight terminals and dense favela neighbourhoods. It is a real regional Brazil that almost no other map models — a world away from the flat grid of São Paulo.
One giant interregional web: CDO
For sheer scale, CDO Mapa Interregional is the big one. It stitches six earlier community maps into a single landscape of 30 routes and 109 bus stops, with AI traffic, pedestrian crowds and even passenger trains.
It is also a perfect example of the real-and-invented blend that runs through the whole Brazilian scene. Real Northeast cities like Camamu in Bahia and Sobral in Ceará sit right alongside made-up towns such as Campo do Sul and Xavier Abreu, all wired together into one network. You can run a route like Camamu to Sobral across hundreds of in-game kilometres, mixing real coastal highway with invented interior roads.
Real or invented? A quick map
| Map | Region | Real or invented |
|---|---|---|
| Ceará Extremo II | Ceará, Northeast Brazil | Real region |
| Capixabão | Espírito Santo coast | Real region |
| CDO Interregional | Bahia + Ceará | Real cities + invented towns |
Bring a coach, not a city bus
Here is the golden rule for all three: drive a coach. These are highway and intercity maps, so the natural bus is a Brazilian road coach — a Marcopolo Paradiso, a Comil Campione or a Busscar on a Mercedes-Benz, Scania or Volvo chassis.
The Marcopolo Paradiso is the icon of this world; we told its whole story in the Marcopolo Paradiso story. Pick one from the Marcopolo mods, point it at the sertão, and the map finally makes sense — a city bus on these roads just feels wrong.
How to install a map mod
The steps are the same for every map on this site.
- Download the map's
.zipfile. - Extract it into Proton Bus Simulator's maps folder with any file manager.
- Launch the game, open the map list, and pick your region.
It works the same on Android and Windows. Add a coach, and you are running the Brazilian highway. Browse the full collection of Brazilian bus mods to build your fleet.
