ZiU-682G Trolleybus Train — Two Cars, One Driver

This is one of the oddest things Soviet transport ever produced: two complete ZiU-682G trolleybuses coupled nose to tail and driven as a single vehicle. Cities that needed metro-level capacity but could not afford metro-level money simply bolted two trolleybuses together. The mod gives you the full pair — four passenger doors, both cabins modelled, and the handling of a very long vehicle on overhead wires.

About the Real Trolleybus Trains

Trolleybus trains were not a factory product. They were built by the operators themselves, using a control system developed by the Kyiv engineer Volodymyr Veklich that let one driver command two coupled vehicles. Kyiv pioneered the idea in the 1960s and 70s; after studying it, Alma-Ata's transport department adapted the system to the ZiU-9, and Novosibirsk ran two-car ZiU-682 trains successfully from 1984. Krasnodar was the last city anywhere in the former Soviet Union to operate them in passenger service, finishing on 31 December 2013.
