The Setra S 319 UL is the 15-meter 3-axle Überland intercity coach variant of Setra's MultiClass 300 series, the largest variant in the family lineup between the smaller S 313 UL (12m, 2-axle) and the mid-tier S 317 UL (3-axle high-capacity intercity). Built by Kässbohrer's Setra brand — later absorbed into Daimler's EvoBus subsidiary — at the Neu-Ulm plant in Bavaria, Germany, the S 319 UL was introduced in 1991 as part of Setra's MultiClass 300 generation that succeeded the long-running Setra 200 series. The 15-meter 3-axle configuration delivered the highest-capacity regional intercity service in the MultiClass 300 lineup, common on Deutsche Bahn Regio Bus heavy-corridor routes and other European regional intercity operators. The UL (Überland) designation marks the variant as the regional intercity service category, distinguishing it from the urban and high-deck tourist trims also offered in the MultiClass family.
