About the Real Mercedes-Benz O405 N2 Camo
The Mercedes-Benz O405 is the urban-bus chassis line from Mercedes-Benz introduced in 1983 and produced through 2001, when it was succeeded by the Citaro O530. The N variant (Niederflur — German for low-floor) followed in 1992 as Mercedes-Benz's first low-floor city bus, with the second-generation N2 arriving in 1994 on the chassis built at Mercedes-Benz's Mannheim plant in Germany. In Portugal, the imported N2 chassis was bodied by Carrocerias Maia & Oliveira (CAMO) at their plant in Maia, near Porto — one of several Portuguese coachbuilders that integrated Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Scania chassis into bodies sized for the country's urban transit operators. The 3-door CAMO body was particularly common on Carris Lisbon and STCP Porto routes through the late 1990s and 2000s, where the high-throughput passenger flow of the central Portuguese cities required more doors than standard 2-door European urban specs.
