Mercedes-Benz O405 N2 Camo (Phase 2) – Refined PBSU 300+ Portuguese Mod for Proton Bus Simulator
The Mercedes-Benz O405 N2 Camo Phase 2 is the mechanical-refresh release of the Portuguese 3-door city bus, rebuilt for PBSU 300+ compatibility with auto transmission scripting, parking brake animation and rain effect support added over the original Phase 1 mechanical setup. This Proton Bus Simulator mod ships the Carrocerias Maia & Oliveira (CAMO) bodywork on the second-generation Mercedes-Benz O405 N2 low-floor chassis as the depth-focused companion to the Phase 1 release (mod #18), trading the 30-livery skin pack for refined physics and modern PBSU compatibility.
Highlights and Features
- Operate the Portuguese-bodied Mercedes-Benz O405 N2 with refined Phase 2 mechanical depth tuned for PBSU 300+
- Drive the auto transmission scripting that gives the Phase 2 release smoother gear changes than the Phase 1 manual-only setup
- Experience rain effect support that adds weather realism not present in the Phase 1 PBSU 2017-era build
- Master the parking brake animation that introduces the visible mechanical detail absent from Phase 1
- Run the Carrocerias Maia & Oliveira (CAMO) Portuguese coachwork in the 3-door high-throughput Lisbon Carris / STCP Porto configuration
- Pair with the Phase 1 release (mod #18) for the 30-livery skin pack on PBSU 2.x, or run Phase 2 standalone for the refined PBSU 300+ experience

About the Real Mercedes-Benz O405 N2 Camo
The Mercedes-Benz O405 is the urban-bus chassis line from Mercedes-Benz introduced in 1983 and produced through 2001, when it was succeeded by the Citaro O530. The N variant (Niederflur — German for low-floor) followed in 1992 as Mercedes-Benz's first low-floor city bus, with the second-generation N2 arriving in 1994 on the chassis built at Mercedes-Benz's Mannheim plant in Germany. In Portugal, the imported N2 chassis was bodied by Carrocerias Maia & Oliveira (CAMO) at their plant in Maia, near Porto — one of several Portuguese coachbuilders that integrated Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Scania chassis into bodies sized for the country's urban transit operators. The 3-door CAMO body was particularly common on Carris Lisbon and STCP Porto routes through the late 1990s and 2000s, where the high-throughput passenger flow of the central Portuguese cities required more doors than standard 2-door European urban specs.
