About the Real Mercedes-Benz O321 H/HL

The Mercedes-Benz O321 H/HL debuted in October 1954 as Daimler-Benz's first semi-integral bus, built at the Mannheim plant in Germany. The HL variant launched in mid-1957 with an additional 1,325 mm of wheelbase, carrying up to 45 passengers across 10.6 metres. Power came from the rear-mounted OM 321 5.1-litre inline-six diesel rated at 110 hp, replaced from 1962 by the larger 5.7-litre OM 322 at 126 hp. German production ran through December 1964 with 18,083 buses built; Brazilian assembly started in 1958 at São Bernardo do Campo and continued until 1970, when the O362 took over.
