About the Real Mercedes-Benz O303

The Mercedes-Benz O303 debuted at the 1974 Paris Motor Show, replacing the O302 as Daimler-Benz's flagship touring coach. Built using unitary monocoque construction at the Mannheim works in Germany, it spanned seven body lengths from 8,678 mm to 12,000 mm and offered four diesel engine choices — the OM 401 V6, OM 402 V8, OM 403 V10, and later OM 422. In 1985 it became the first bus in the world to offer anti-lock braking. Production ran until 1992, with more than 35,000 units delivered — the highest output of any touring coach to that point.
