About the Real LiAZ-677MB

The LiAZ-677 is a high-floor city bus produced by the Likinsky Bus Plant (LiAZ) in Russia, mass-produced from 1967 to 1994, with kit assembly continuing at other plants until 2002. Around 200,000 units of all modifications were built, making it the plant's most prolific model and a fixture of streets across the Soviet Union. It was the first Soviet bus with a hydromechanical (automatic) transmission and used a carbureted ZIL V8 petrol engine, whose soft suspension and swaying gait earned it the affectionate nickname "Lunokhod" (moonwalker). The 677MB was the suburban variant, built from 1978 to 1994 with a four-row seating layout and 35 seats for intercity and suburban routes.
