About the Real NefAZ-5299

NefAZ — the Neftekamsk Automobile Plant in Bashkortostan, Russia — is a KamAZ subsidiary that presented the 5299 in December 2000 and started series production in 2001. The family went on to become one of the country's most widely used large buses, passing 18,000 units across all versions. The -10 index covers the high-floor suburban and intercity branch, sitting alongside the semi-low-floor -30 and fully low-floor -40 lines the plant introduced later. Fitted with KamAZ, Cummins, Mercedes-Benz or Caterpillar diesels depending on the batch, these buses still work regional routes across Russia today.
