About Carrus and the Volvo B10M

Carrus was a Finnish coachbuilder founded in 1944 and headquartered in Tampere, Finland, with its main plant in Lieto producing complete bus bodies and assemblies that anchored Northern European urban and intercity bus fleets through the latter half of the twentieth century. The City L is the company's urban-bus body family, paired with the Volvo B10M chassis whose horizontally mid-mounted Volvo THD100-series engine layout became one of the most successful European transit platforms of the 1990s thanks to the weight distribution, traction, and structural geometry it delivered for body builders. Volvo Buses acquired the Carrus bodywork division in 1998, after which the Carrus body designs continued production under Volvo Buses branding before evolving into later Volvo 7000-series and successor families. The 12-meter rigid variant in this Proton Bus Simulator mod represents the solo-configuration sibling of the longer articulated 18-meter B10MA version, with both serving Northern European harsh-winter operating conditions.
