About the Real Italbus Tropea

The Italbus Tropea is an Argentine urban bus body produced by Italbus, a Buenos Aires Province bodybuilder based in Avellaneda that began operations in 2004 as the successor to Ottaviano Hnos SA. The Tropea was presented in 2006 and has evolved through successive generations — MK2 in the early 2010s, then Tropea III, and the current Tropea IV. The body is offered on multiple Mercedes-Benz urban chassis including the O-500U, OH1621L-SB, and OH1721L-SB, with Agrale MT12.0LE as an alternative. Standard urban configuration features galvanized steel structure, fibreglass-reinforced polyester front and rear panels, pneumatic suspension, and a central accessibility ramp door. Despite the brand name, Italbus is not Italian — the company is wholly Argentine.
