Inrecar (Industrias Metálicas Recaré) is a Chilean coachbuilder based in Santiago, historically one of the major bus body manufacturers serving the Chilean domestic urban transit market. The Sagitário is one of Inrecar's classic taxibus body designs from the 1970s-1990s, mounted on imported Mercedes-Benz OF-1318 front-engine chassis from the Brazilian Mercedes plant. The "Liebre" (Spanish for Hare) nickname is the affectionate Chilean term for the small private taxibuses (also called "micros") that dominated Santiago and Valparaíso urban transit before the 2007 Transantiago reform reorganized the system around larger municipal-operator buses.
